There was still a little bit of ironbark timber remaining- the perfect amount to construct the awning off the kitchen window, in the same style as the entrance on the other side of the house.
I boxed up and concreted in three whopping great big foundations for the platform that would hold the bath. Well over-engineered and rock solid, Dad would have approved! Tony came back and we plumbed it all in. After that I filled in all the trenches, laid down the gravel and finished it off with the whacker packer. Phewfff. Tools down. I think we’ve made it.
The Nook is forever evolving, who knows if it will ever be completely, “done”, but that takes us nicely into the final lesson. It’s not the speed at which you get something done that matters, it’s that you enjoy the process and recognise that what we perceive as being ‘done’ will be forever changing. The Nook, like us, is constantly evolving. Creativity and imagination inspired this house into being and make up its very essence. We hope this little house on the hill continues to inspire all those who walk through its doors and become the next chapter in its story.
MOVING ON
The Nook has been our special sanctuary. A place that has pushed us, inspired us, wounded us, nursed us and created clarity for us. We have shared so many memories on this block and in this space. It is a space that must be enjoyed, appreciated and experienced by others.
The Nook will always feel like home, but we hope it will also feel like home to you.
We acknowledge that Nook On The Hill sits on Djab Wurrung country and pay our respects to elders past, present and emerging.
