A good friend Sammy is a fridge mechanic and spent a day plumbing all the pipes through the walls of the house to the future locations of the two indoor split system units.
The legendary Serbian concrete magician, Jovan Jovanov, arrived with his unique set of diamond encrusted tools to cut and polish the slab.
This resulted in a silky smooth feel under foot and a glorious matte satin sheen that subtly welcomed the colours of the mountains and sky into the space.
We used batts to insulate the ceiling, made from scrap wool that was a by-product from a carpet factory in Melbourne. The second storey walls were then insulated with a new technology to Australia called Isocell. This is a cellulose material made from shredded newspapers and mineral salts and is blown into the wrap sealed frame of the house. This was the first domestic installation of the Isocell product in Australia… ever! After that, things just kept getting ticked off the list!
