We’ve always kept a booklet at the Nook. A handwritten (well, printed) guide to the walks, lookouts, waterfalls, swimming holes, and towns worth your time in Gariwerd.
Guests have flipped through it over breakfast for years. Scribbled notes in the margins. Asked us to photograph the pages before checking out.
So we’ve decided to put it here, properly. Post by post, we’re working through every entry — what makes each spot worth the detour, what to know before you go, and the things you won’t find on a tourist map.

We’re beginning with the places we send every single guest to. The walks that reward the effort. The lookouts that stop you mid-sentence.
These aren’t ranked. Gariwerd doesn’t work like that. But they’re the ones we’d choose if we only had a weekend — and they’re the ones that tend to stick with people long after they’ve left.

Each post covers the basics: trailhead, distance, terrain, what you’ll see. And a few honest notes from us — when to go, what to bring, where to stop on the way back.
No filler. Just the stuff that’s actually useful when you’re lacing up your boots at 8am and wondering where to point the car.

Bookmark this page. We’ll keep adding to it as the series grows.
