Just 15 kilometres east of Halls Gap, nestled near the charming town of Pomonal, lies Lake Fyans – a picturesque reservoir that has become a popular destination for both locals and visitors exploring Gariwerd. It’s a fantastic spot for a refreshing walk, a swim or simply enjoying the calm waterside.
Lake Fyans offers more than just beautiful water views. While there is an optional 10km track around the lake (be aware that some sections can be a little unclear), there are also numerous other trails to explore, most notably from “Kelly’s Beach” on the western side. This area is particularly vibrant in spring, with many local orchids in bloom, offering a different kind of beauty to discover.
For an unforgettable evening, we highly recommend taking the delicious goodies from your welcome hamper down for a magical sunset picnic at Lake Fyans!
Getting There for Sunset: Head to the eastern side of the lake. You’ll find a convenient car park located beside the dam wall, perfectly situated halfway between the caravan park and the yacht club – the perfect spot to watch the sky ignite with colour as the sun dips below the horizon.
Imagine spreading out your picnic blanket, savouring local produce, and sipping on Grampians wine as the sky transforms into a masterpiece. It’s a moment of pure tranquility and connection.
Lake Fyans offers a refreshing oasis where you can connect with nature, explore gentle trails and create unforgettable sunset memories.
