Lake Fyans is where locals go when they want the Grampians without the crowds.
The reservoir sits on the northern edge of the national park, surrounded by open farmland and the blue haze of the ranges. It’s a different feel from Halls Gap β wider, quieter, more breathing room.

This is one of the best places in the region for kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and fishing. The water is usually calm in the mornings, and the launch area is easy to access. No powered boats, which keeps things peaceful.
For fishing, Lake Fyans is stocked with trout and redfin. A recreational fishing licence is required β pick one up online before you go.

Even if you don’t get on the water, the lake is worth the drive. Picnic tables, a boat ramp, open sky, and the ranges as a backdrop. It’s the kind of spot where you sit down for lunch and stay until late afternoon.
