Pomonal is about ten minutes from the Nook. It’s easy to miss if you don’t know to look for it — a quiet village in the shadow of the ranges, unhurried in every season. Pomonal Estate sits right in the middle of it, producing wine and craft beer and cider with the kind of care that’s hard to fake.
We put two of their wines in your hamper because we think they’re genuinely good, and because every sip connects you a little more to the place you’re in.

Adam and Pep have been in Pomonal since 2014, which around here counts as planting deep roots. They came looking for the right piece of land, and found it. Adam’s brewing had already made a name for itself locally; that momentum gave them the push to go further.
Their cellar door is built with recycled and locally sourced materials — a decision that reflects how they think about everything they make. In 2017 they planted three acres of Shiraz and Riesling alongside a cider orchard, and began working with some of the Grampians’ most respected winemakers while their own vines find their footing.
Community runs through everything they do. Live music, support for local artists, sourcing from the region wherever possible. Pomonal Estate is as much a gathering place as it is a winery.

We’ve chosen two Pomonal Estate wines for your stay — both worth opening the night you arrive.
The Sangiovese Shiraz Rosé is bright and floral, with layers of red cherry and a soft savouriness on the finish. It’s made for a long afternoon on the deck, or alongside something from the local cheese board.
The Shiraz leans darker — plum and cherry, a lift of spice, and an easy finish that doesn’t demand your full attention. The kind of bottle that opens with dinner and somehow disappears by the fire.

If you’d like to meet Adam and Pep in person, the cellar door is worth the short drive. There’s usually something interesting to try, and the setting — at the foot of the ranges — does something to the pace of the afternoon.

Two less things between you and a very good glass of wine. Come and find it.
