For those seeking a rewarding hike with panoramic vistas that truly showcase the beauty of Halls Gap and the surrounding Grampians, Boronia Peak is a must-do. A favourite among both visitors and locals, this trail offers a delightful journey through lush trails and up rocky crests, culminating in breathtaking views of the valley below.
The hike to Boronia Peak begins at the end of Tandara Road in Halls Gap. Park your car there, then head East, across the wooden bridge and follow the signs to Boronia heading North.
Along the 8 km out-and-back trail (approximately 2-3 hours return, depending on your pace), you’ll experience:
The steady crunch of gravel underfoot brings you closer to the summit with every step. As you crest the final rise, a sense of triumph washes over you. And then, suddenly, the view opens up – a breathtaking panorama of mountains, the shimmering expanse of Lake Bellfield, and the rolling patchwork of green that stretches as far as the eye can see.
For the intrepid, you can get up close and personal with the rocks, squeezing between boulders near the top and even dance along the ridge to see the rest of the valley from another viewpoint above. Keep your eyes peeled – if you’re observant, you might even be rewarded with a glimpse of the Nook nestled amongst the landscape!
Boronia Peak is a medium-grade hike that promises an enriching experience.
