Choose Your Pinnacle Journey: Options for Every Explorer
Rising to an elevation of approximately 720 meters, The Pinnacle is accessible via several fantastic hiking trails, offering options for various fitness levels and desired hike lengths:
- From Halls Gap (A Comprehensive Adventure): For a truly immersive experience, you can begin your journey directly from Halls Gap. Start at the tennis courts next to Halls Gap Primary School and embark on a picturesque route heading past the serene Venus Baths. This comprehensive adventure offers diverse scenery and a rewarding ascent.
- For a Shorter Ascent: If you’re looking for a quicker path to the summit, you can also start from the Wonderland or Sundial carparks. These routes still offer incredible scenery but reduce the overall hiking time.
Whichever path you choose, the trails wind through ancient rock formations and colourful wildflower displays, promising an unforgettable journey to the summit. The total hike from Halls Gap (loop) is approximately 8.5 km and takes between 3-5 hours.
Highlights of the Ascent: Gorges, Waterfalls & Wildlife
Along your journey to the Pinnacle, you’ll encounter incredible natural features:
- Silent Street: Experience the aptly named “Silent Street,” a section of the trail that runs inside a narrow gorge with high rock walls on either side. This part of the walk offers a cool respite from the sun and winds above.
- Natural Waterfalls: After rain, several small natural waterfalls often appear along the trail. These easily accessible natural showers make great spots to stop, cool off and recuperate.
- Wildlife Encounters: It’s not unusual to see wallabies, lizards and echidnas on the trail. Sometimes, clever birds flutter from one side of the path to the other, following along as you walk.
